| The company makes a sample preparation system for medical diagnostic applications. The Company's ThinPrep sample preparation system is a system for the automated preparation of microscope slides of cervical cell specimens for use in Pap smear testing, as well as for the automated preparation of microscope slides of non-gynecological cell specimens. The ThinPrep System is designed to improve diagnostic accuracy of the Pap smear test through a standardized and simplified sample preparation process which also preserves cells for additional diagnostic testing. Cytyc has developed the ThinPrep System to address the limitations of the conventional Pap smear method. The ThinPrep System consists of the ThinPrep 2000 Processor and related reagents, filters and other supplies. |
