Business Description

The company develops, markets and supports anti-virus software programs for personal computers and PC networks. The company's principal product line is the "Dr Solomon's Anti-Virus Toolkit" family of anti-virus software programs. The Toolkit defects, identifies and eradicates more than 10,000 known computer viruses, while minimizing false alarms, maximizing speed of operation and minimizing obtrusiveness in use of system resources. In recent years, there has been a heightened awareness of the vulnerability of corporate data networks to security breaches by the deliberate transmission of viruses by virus authors seeking to circumvent computer and network security. The company estimates that the number of known computer viruses has grown from 100 to 1990 to over 10,000 at August 31, 1996, and has recently been increasing at an accelerated estimated average rate of more than 200 new viruses per month.
