Business Description
The company designs, manufactures and sells on-premises wireless telephone systems which complement existing telephone systems by providing mobile communications in a building or campus environment. The SpectraLink Pocket Communication System uses a micro-cellular design consisting of three components: a Master Control Unit, Remote Cell Units and Pocket Telephone. The MCU interfaces directly with a PBX, Centrex or key/hybrid system to provide most of the calling features and functionality of the customer's wireless telephone system. The MCU also connects with the RCUs, which are small radio transceivers located throughout the customer's facility that relay calls between the five ounce Pocket Telephones and the telephone system. Calls are handed off from one RCU to another as a user moves throughout the facility. In order to meet the demands fro a cost effective, on premises system that allows immediate communications with mobile employees, SpectraLink has developed the Pocket Communications System. The company's micro-cellular systems allow real-time communications with mobile employees at any location within a building or campus environment.
