| Business Description |
| The company is a provider of local telecommunications services. Brooks offers customers an alternative to the regional Bell telephone companies for making local telephone calls and transmitting data. The company currently has systems in 13 cities. The Company acquires and constructs its own state-of-the-art fiber optic networks and facilities and leases network capacity from others to provide long distance carriers and business, government and institutional end users with an alternative to the local exchange companies for a broad array of high quality voice, data and other telecommunications services. The Company currently has systems in 25 cities , consisting of systems in operating in the 13 cities and under construction in 12 cities. Of the Company's networks under construction, seven are expected to become operational in the second quarter of 1996 and five are expected to become operational by the end of the third quarter of 1996. Networks are considered operational when they begin providing services to customers. |
