| Business Description |
| The company is a full service telecommunications provider, offering fixed local and domestic and international long distance telephone services, on an exclusive basis, throughout Peru. The company also offers a wide range of other telecommunications services, including cellular telephone and paging services, business communications and related services and cable television. The company is also the primary operator of Peru's public telephone system. As of March 31, 1996, the company had approximately 1.2 million lines in services and digitization rates of 79.0% and 100% for local switching equipment and trunk connections, respectively. On the basis of revenues and net income of S/2.5 billion and S/726.3 million, respectively, in 1995, the company is the largest company in Peru. The company believes that its relationship with Telefonica Internacional provides it with several competitive advantages due to Telefonica Internacional's experience in developing telecommunications businesses in Latin America. |
