| The company is a leader in the development, design, manufacture, marketing and distribution of copper wire and cable products for the communications and electrical markets. Copper wire and cable is the most widely used medium for the transmission of voice, data, video and control signals and electrical current. The company believes that several factors, including technological innovations and the size of the installed base of copper cable, will preserve copper's position as the medium of choice for these applications. Based on publicly available data and internal estimates, the company believes that it has the most diversified product line and channels of distribution in the U.S. wire and cable industry. The company's products for the communications markets include plastic insulated cable, outside service wire, high-bandwidth twisted pair data cable, multi-conductor/multi-pair shielded and unshielded cable, coaxial cable and fiber optic cable. The company's products for the electrical markets include building wire, portable cord and cordsets for construction, industrial and consumer applications, and automotive wire and cable. The company sells to more than 8,500 customers, including electrical, data communications and electronic distribution companies, automotive, hardware and home center retail chains, and telecommunications companies and other end users. |
