| The company is Hungary's national telecommunications company and is the principal provider of telecommunications services in the country, with over 2.3 million access lines in service to residential and business customers. The company is a full service telecommunications provider and has the exclusive rights to be the national carrier of the country until December 2001 to provide national and international long distance public telephony services, local public telephony services in local concession regions that cover over 75% of the population. Through joint ventures, the company is also the countrys' largest mobile telecom provider, with more than 400,000 subscribers. The company is majority owned by Germany's Deutsche Telekom AG and AmeriTech Corp of the United States. |
